Library Board

The Library Board sets policy and oversees the operation of the Adel Public Library. Terms are for 6 years and expire July 1 of the date listed. Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the Adel City Council regarding the City of Adel's Comprehensive Plan, land use, changes in zoning and review of sub-division plans or plats. The commission will ensure the coordinated, adjusted and harmonious development of the City that will best promote the health, safety, morals, order, convenience, and general welfare of the City. Terms are for 5 years and expire July 1 date listed. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets as needed.

The Board of Adjustment is resopnsible for administrative review of decisions made by the zoning officer, to hear and decide on requests for special exceptions and variances to the City of Adel's Zoning Code. Parks & Recreation Board

The Parks & Recreation Board recommends and oversees policy and rules governing the City parks, the Adel Family Aquatic Center, and the City's cemeteries. Oversees the operation of the park system. The Parks & Recreation Board also serves as the City's Tree Board. Terms are for 3 years and expire on July 1 of date listed. The Historic Preservation Commission promotes the educational, cultural, economic, and general welfare of the public through the recognition, enhancement, and perpetuation of districts and sites of historical and cultural significance. Economic Development Commission
