UPDATE: Flooding – Wells

Posted: March 17, 2019

3/25/19 – The Water Watch from 3/18/19 has been lifted.

3/18/19 – Power has been restored and all four wells are operational. City staff manually monitored the water system overnight and it has been working as designed throughout the day today.

MidAmerican Energy service personnel were on site yesterday and assessed the damage using a drone.

Flood waters were not the direct cause of the outage. It is believed a bird or animal near the top of a pole interrupted the power source there. Power was restored once it was determined that no significant damage had occurred.

While our well fields are still flooded and inaccessible for another seven to ten days, we believe the power source and water system are stable and can deliver needed water to our citizens.

Therefore, the City is moving from a Tier II Water Warning to a Water Watch which can be found at “93.05 GENERAL PROCEDURE.  1. Water Watch” using the following link:

Given the time of year, the water watch should not cause much hardship as most of the conservation efforts are outdoor related. We plan to keep the “watch” active until the flood waters recede and we can inspect all aspects of our wells.

We will provide an update if there is any change to the Water Watch or change to the water system operations. We appreciate your cooperation.
