To apply for a Shed Permit please submit the form below.

After submitting the Shed Permit Application you will be directed to the online payment form that must be paid for the Shed Permit to be issued. You do not need to wait for the permit to begin placing the shed on your property provided you have read and understand the Adel City Code requirements for “Accessory Buildings” (see below).

I have read and understand Chapter 165.48.4 of the Adel City Code:*

4. Accessory Buildings. No accessory building shall be erected in any required front yard, and no separate accessory building shall be erected within 10 feet of a main building. No accessory building shall be closer than five feet to the rear or side lot line except that where a garage is entered perpendicular or near perpendicular directly from an alley, the setback shall be 15 feet. Accessory buildings located in the rear yard may not occupy more than 35 percent of the rear yard and the aggregate of all accessory buildings shall not exceed 750 square feet. No accessory building shall be used without occupancy of the principal building, and no accessory building shall exceed 18 feet in average height. Garages are limited to 1,200 square feet for lot size of less than one acre and 2,400 square feet for lot size of one acre or more and may not occupy more than 35 percent of the rear yard and the aggregate of all other accessory buildings.
