Parks & Recreation Department
The City’s Parks & Recreation Department operates and manages the City’s parks and recreation programs with the following staff:

Coed Sand Volleyball
Games are played on Tuesday evenings beginning around 6:00p at Evans park throughout June and July. Teams are guaranteed an 8-game season and an end-of-season league tournament. Fees are $165 per team.
Coed Slow-pitch Softball
Games are played on Thursday evenings beginning around 6:00p at Kinnick-Feller Park throughout June and July. Teams are guaranteed 8 games. Men will hit a 14” ball, and women will hit a 12” ball. Fees are $190 per team.
Games are played on Thursday evenings beginning around 6:00p at Kinnick-Feller Park tennis courts under the lights. Season runs in the fall between August and October. Fees are $30 per team.
Hosted by the Adel Tennis Club. Women’s league is played on Monday/Tuesday. Men’s league is played on Thursday evenings. Games are held throughout the summer at Kinnick-Feller Park. Fees are $25/person.
Classes are held on Tuesday mornings from 6:00a-6:30a at the Adel Family Aquatic Center. Fees are $15-20 depending on session or $7/single class drop in.
Coed Indoor Volleyball
Games are played on Sunday evenings beginning around 5:00p at the ADM High School south gym throughout January and February. Childcare is available for $1/child/evening. Fees are $180 per team.
Over 30 Men’s Basketball
Games are played on Sunday evenings at the DAC gym from November to February. Register as an individual and then be divided into teams. Fees are $20 per person.
This program is targeted towards the 60+ population and includes a variety of low impact activities from yard game and modified sports to board games and cards. Held on Mondays at the District Administration Center gym from 9-10a throughout November and December.
Recreational open gym time is offered Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00a-11:00a at the District Administration Center from October-April. The gym is closed during school breaks including Thanksgiving, winter, and spring break. Play basketball, shuffleboard, pickleball, walk, run, socialize, etc. The DAC gym is located on 12th street in Adel. There is no charge.
Looking for a Team? Interested in playing but don’t have a team? Email firstname.lastname@example.org with name, number, email, and sport interested in playing. Interested players will be connected with one another in an attempt to form a team.
Deadlines: All entry fees and rosters must be turned into Adel Parks & Recreation by the deadline of each individual sport to guarantee your team placement in the league. Refer to the activity guide for registration deadlines.
A fun, innovative, and energetic program that teaches music and piano skills to preschool children ages 2.5-5. Learn more at kiddykeys.com. Held in October. Fees are $46/family.
Softball & Baseball
Games are played in Adel and the surrounding communities. Season runs from April-June. Divisions are as follows: T-ball (5&6), Rookie (7&8), Minor (9&10), Major (11&12). Fees are $70 for T-Ball and $80 for Rookie, Minor, and Major.
The league is designed to introduce children to baseball and softball while having FUN! Program is held on Monday/Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:45p and Kinnick-Feller Park. There are two sessions, one in June and one in July. Offered for boys and girls ages 3 and 4. Parent participation is expected. Players should bring a glove, all other equipment is provided. Fees are $35/person.
Lessons are on Tuesday/Thursday mornings for 3 weeks at Kinnick-Feller Park. There are two sessions, one in June and one in July. There are three divisions suitable for ages 5-17. All equipment is provided. Fees are $45-$60 depending on division.
1st-2nd Grade: Games are played on Saturdays in Adel throughout November and December. Practices start mid-October and are held during the week in the evenings. Fees are $55/person.
3rd-6th Grade: Separate boys and girls leagues. Games are played on Saturdays in Adel and the surrounding communities throughout January and February. Practices start mid-December and are held during the week in the evening. Fees are $65/person.

Adel Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt
Enjoy activities like the Easter Bunny, face painting, a fire truck, real bunnies, prizes and more! Please bring non-perishable food items for the Adel Food Pantry.

Movie in the Park
Gather your lawn chairs and blankets and join us for a free family-friendly movie in Evans Park at sunset. Popcorn will be provided.
Sweet Corn Festival
An annual festival held in August that includes corn shucking and eating, 5k, parade, entertainment, vendors, and more!
Iowa Park & Rec Day at State Fair
Celebrate Parks and Recreation at the Iowa State Fair by participating in friendly competitions including bubble gum blowing, big wheel races, scavenger hunt, and more!
Grocery Cart Races
Race head to head versus other competitors for a chance to be crowned the grocery cart champion! Fundraiser for the Adel Food Pantry held in the fall. Registration fee is $25 worth of grocery/personal care items.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
Create a Jack-O-Lantern masterpiece and submit a photo by October 31 via email (email@example.com) to be entered in the contest.
Thanksgiving Free-Throw Turkey Toss
A family fun holiday event. Parent and child teams compete in a free-throw contest for a chance to win a gift certificate for a free turkey. Held the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Notes From the North Pole
Get in the holiday spirit by receiving a personalized letter from Santa.
A temporary outdoor ice rink is set up each winter season. Specific dates of use are subject to weather. The rink is free to use and is located by the Community Stage and Pavilion.
